A little corner of the old ways
Mojomagix began in 1998 as a single shelf of blessed candles and dressing oils at the back of a neighborhood market. Word traveled the way it always does — one satisfied customer telling the next — and the shelf became a counter, the counter became a storefront, and the storefront became the online shop you are standing in today.
Founder & Keeper of the Shop
Yolanda "Mama Yoya" Reyes
Mama Yoya learned the work at her grandmother’s kitchen table, where a lit candle and a whispered prayer were the household’s answer to almost everything. She spent years apprenticing with rootworkers and readers before opening her own doors, and she still hand-dresses many of the candles herself. Her rule for the shop has never changed: sell nothing you would not set on your own altar.
